GRP, a collaborative and dynamic site to make the partecipation possible

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organisation that provides emergency medical care to millions of people caught in crises in nearly 60 countries around the world. MSF provides assistance when catastrophic events — such as armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, or natural disasters — overwhelm local health systems. MSF also assists people who face discrimination or neglect from their local health systems or when populations are otherwise excluded from health care.
In the last 6 months MSF has undertake a revision process about all the organization that reflects the common ownership of its social mission. They wanted a process that involved the whole movement leveraging the web to inform, obtain contributions, comments, interviews, share videos especially from the fields, to attain a wide participation to the revision process in a complex and geographically distributed organization like this one.
We have developed for them, with Plone, the Governance reform process (GRP) site to contribute to the discussion and help the organization to build a new internal governance structure that will allow to better meet the challenges. MSF needed to make the GRP site collaborative and dynamic so that real wide participation is made possible.
This project has been a very good success with more then 60 original contributions, many open discussions and a final conference streamed online through the GRP site.
For MSF, we have also developed the International Intranet.
