Médecins Sans Frontières International: Workspaces

MSF - Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) is an humanitarian independent organization that provides medical and humanitarian help in about 63 countries around the world.
MSF provides assistance when catastrophic events — such as armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, or natural disasters — overwhelm local health systems. MSF also assists people who face discrimination or neglect from their local health systems or when populations are otherwise excluded from health care.
We develop and maintain MSF International Intranet (also known as Tukul) since it's second release in 2009 (see MSF Intranet case).
Since initial project Tukul is being continuously updated moving from the classic document management system to a user-centered and collaborative environment: Workspaces is an important step in this evolution.
"MSF international Workspaces" allows working groups (pharmacists, communication, finance, ...) to keep in touch, share documents and collaboratively work. Workspaces have been initially launched in beta for a limited number of groups and have been opened to the whole organization since early 2010; there are now more than 30 active workspaces and growing.
Workspaces offer classic collaboration features such as forums, a document sharing area, file sharing, a wiki and events and are fully integrated with the document management system and all intranet features.
We have used Plone for this project.
